At Primary School, from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2, pupils learn through the British National Curriculum, strengthened by a dual approach with the Spanish curriculum, helping every pupil make visible progress and prepare confidently for Secondary School and beyond.
Developing confident communication in English
Students strengthen their English through literary texts and project-based learning. At this stage, the focus is on refining language skills by improving reading and listening comprehension, as well as written and spoken expression. Students also benefit from opportunities to speak in public and take part in theatrical performances.
Building mathematical confidence through real-life learning
Mathematics is taught through practical activities connected to real-life situations. Students learn to identify the most appropriate techniques and apply them with confidence in different contexts.
Exploring science through discovery and experimentation
Science introduces students to key elements of biology, physics and chemistry through hands-on experiments, helping them begin to recognise the different scientific branches. Children take part in a range of individual and group projects, developing curiosity, collaboration and investigative skills.
Understanding the past and exploring the world today
Through Theme, students explore different periods of history and develop an understanding of how significant events continue to shape society today. The study of human and physical geography complements this learning, helping students build a broader understanding of the world around them.
Meeting Spanish education requirements
To ensure their studies are officially recognised in Spain, students also complete the compulsory elements of the Spanish education system through Spanish Language and Knowledge of the Environment subjects.
Nurturing creativity through artistic expression
Artistic creativity plays an important role in students’ learning and is highly visible throughout the school. From an early age, students explore different artists and styles, applying a range of techniques to their own creative work.
Developing musical skills from the start of Primary
From the first year of Primary, students take part in music lessons led by specialist teachers in a dedicated music classroom. They also have the opportunity to join the school choir or further develop their musical skills through private lessons with the BSA Music School.
Building digital confidence and responsible technology habits
To prepare for the challenges of today’s digital world, students are introduced to programming through a range of applications and computer platforms. Emphasis is placed on the responsible use of devices and digital safety, helping students develop safe, informed and mindful habits in technological environments.
Promoting confidence, wellbeing and physical development
In Primary, swimming is an integral part of the Physical Education programme. Students take part in lessons that introduce a variety of sports, help them develop water skills, improve motor coordination and encourage healthy habits.

In Primary School, each pupil’s progress is measured continuously using British assessment criteria, helping teachers understand how their knowledge, skills and confidence are developing at every stage.
Families receive termly academic reports and have regular meetings with the school to share progress, needs and next steps. Daily effort is also encouraged through positive reinforcement on ClassDojo, alongside recognitions such as Golden Tickets and Student of the Month, helping pupils feel valued, motivated and proud of their progress.
In Primary School, pupils develop key competencies that help them grow with confidence in and beyond the classroom. In an English immersion environment, they strengthen communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Through projects, collaborative activities and daily challenges, they build teamwork, leadership, responsibility and creativity. They also develop safe, progressive digital competence, alongside the emotional and social skills they need for the next stage of their education.
In Primary, language immersion supports the development of an excellent level of English, while students continue to strengthen their Spanish and progress in a third language. The daily use of English, both inside and beyond the classroom, encourages natural, confident and fluent communication.

I also like doing things to help children from our school who are unwell and still in hospital. When I grow up, I would like to be a singer, an astronaut, a scientist or a midwife. At my school, we have choir to help us become singers, and we learn science, including plants and space.
