Meet our team

Elena Maccioni is Head of KS4 and KS5 and Head of the Science Department at The British School of Almería, which she joined in September 2019. She teaches Science and Chemistry to IGCSE and International A Level students and is also a member of the Safeguarding Team. A trained analytical chemist and graduate of the University of Bristol, Elena has over 15 years’ experience across the British and Spanish education systems, teaching a range of subjects including Science, English and Mathematics. As a key pastoral leader, she works closely with tutors and Student Leadership to ensure students feel safe, supported and confident. She also empowers KS5 students to be positive role models and helps foster enthusiasm for learning across the school.

Marie is a French Teacher and Head of Key Stage 3 at The British School of Almería, which she joined in December 2017. Born in France, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Arizona State University, where she developed a strong interest in child development and wellbeing. She later completed a Spanish cultural course at the University of Granada and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education International (PGCEi) with the University of Nottingham. Her professional journey reflects her deep commitment to student wellbeing, pastoral care and inclusive education.
